Setting Sail on Norwegian Luna: Our 2027 Bermuda Cruise from NYC

There is a certain thrill in booking a cruise more than a year out, and this one has us especially excited. In April 2027, we are sailing Norwegian Luna round-trip from New York City to Bermuda, and we will be doing it in The Haven.

Why This Sailing Is a Big Deal

Norwegian Luna is scheduled to make her New York debut on April 6, 2027, becoming the newest ship in the contemporary cruise market to sail from the city. NCL has announced a season of four- to seven-day Bermuda voyages with overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard.

The overnight is a major part of the appeal. It creates time to enjoy Bermuda beyond a single port day, with less pressure to squeeze the island into a few daylight hours or rush back to the ship before dinner.

Luna belongs to NCL's Prima Plus class and is the sister ship to Norwegian Aqua. We are longtime NCL cruisers and Platinum Latitudes members, but this will be our first experience on one of the newer Prima-class designs. I am curious to see how the layout, dining, and overall rhythm compare with the older ships we know well.

Why We Booked The Haven

For this trip, we decided to book The Haven, NCL's suite enclave. On Luna, the experience is designed around a more private setting within a much larger ship.

• A private Haven courtyard and sundeck away from the main pool areas
• A dedicated Haven restaurant and lounge
• Butler and concierge service
• Priority embarkation, disembarkation, and assistance with onboard planning

One distinction is worth making: Vibe Beach Club is separate from The Haven and requires its own access pass. Haven guests have their own private outdoor spaces, but a Haven booking does not automatically include Vibe.

Our Platinum Latitudes status will still apply alongside eligible Haven benefits. Because loyalty-program details can change, I plan to review the current benefit chart closer to sailing rather than counting on a specific restaurant credit or priority service this far in advance.

Tips for This Route and NCL

Book The Haven Early

Haven suites are limited and popular categories can disappear well before standard balconies or inside cabins. Booking early also gives you a better chance of choosing the suite location that fits how you want to use the ship.

Compare Latitudes and Haven Benefits

Loyalty benefits and Haven amenities can overlap, but they are not interchangeable. Before sailing, I will compare the current Latitudes chart with the Haven inclusions and ask the concierge about anything that is unclear.

Choose the Overnight

An overnight at the Royal Naval Dockyard changes the pace of the trip. It allows for an evening ashore and makes it easier to divide beach time, sightseeing, and dining across more than one day.

Pack for Shoulder-Season Weather

April in Bermuda and the North Atlantic can be cool, breezy, and changeable, especially on sea days. I am packing layers and a light rain jacket rather than treating it like a midsummer Caribbean cruise.

Learn the Ship Early

Prima-class ships organize some public spaces differently from the Breakaway and Escape-class vessels we know. We plan to walk the ship soon after embarkation so we understand the Haven's location and how the main venues connect.
